New
PST Rules 10/30/08
by Marshall Ryan
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has passed and promulgated new rules for Chapter 334 Subchapter C: Technical
Standards that affect how you maintain and record compliance for your existing and new fueling systems. Additional new rules
became effective 1/1/09 for new systems installed after that date.
As of 10/30/08, all spill containments and/or catch basins for UST's have to be inspected once every 60 days to
ensure
that their sides, bottoms and any penetration points are maintained liquid tight. Furthermore, any liquid or debris found in
them during an inspection must be removed and properly disposed of within 72 hours of discovery.
As of 1/1/09, any new UST system, tank, line or dispenser will require secondary containment in addition to the 60 day inspections
of spill containments and/or catch basins.
UST offers inspection services as part of our Compliance Assurance Program. If you are interested in our services or want a
free copy of our inspection form, please contact Harry at 817-481-9510 Ext 108.
